the spoiled brat from Willy Wonka

The segue from the Tom Clay tune to the WW clip was pretty abrupt--iirc, there was some more of What the World Needs Now that we didn't hear.
Let's get right to it.

My old housemate Rich in Taiwan would get all sentimental as the holidays drew near each year, and ask if we wouldn't all like to sing some Christmas carols:  "let's start with Joy To The World, ready?  1, 2, 3...Jeremiah was a bullfrog!"
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

Veruca, sweetheart, angel...

I'm in the minority, I know, but I think it's quite an overrated movie; then again I was 16 in '71 and therefore too old for "children's movies".  But seeing it on TV a couple years ago I was struck how awful the songs are.

OMG! VHM "Albert Flasher". He was a workshop owner... and?

Speaking of "all over the radio"...I remember being in sixth grade and being able to turn on the radio and hear this song within about 15 minutes, any time of the day. God bless Top 40 radio.

No, that was the complete "long" version. I believe there was a radio edit that ended with music.

Holy Toledo, this is an awesome set, finishing (?) with Rock and Roll Stew.  I'd love to have a CD with these songs on it.

Traffic, stirring up some Rock and Roll Stew.
Now in 2008 Steve Winwood's latest CD is quite enjoyable.

I've lost count, but I suspect you're right--and '71 sets tend to be pretty short. And I think Dave has used R&RS to close sets before. Great set though.
