i was noticing yesterday how not too many people have license plate holders or bumper stickers bearing expletives, and i was thinking about how generally civilised we are as a nation. i didn't think too long about it...

Most DMV's are quite vigilant about license plates -- you're not allowed to be lewd or political.

Morning radio sucks big buckets of ass, especially here in NYC.  I'll never be caught listening to that garbage.  I just hope Micky Dolenz isn't being pushed into doing "morning zoo" antics on his show.

Ironically, this Friday there'll be a "20th Anniversary" simulcast of "We Are The World" (it's the 20th birthday of the song's recording session).  Wonder if KFOG and The Drive will participate.

sweet. i'm so there. wherever there is.

ok, off the tope of me head, let's see if i can do this:

lionel richie:
there comes a time when we heed a certain call
lionel and stevie wonder:
when the world must come together as one
stevie:
there are people dying
paul simon:
oh and it's time to lend a hand to life
paul and kenny rogers:
the greatest gift of all
kenny rogers:
we can't go on pretending day by day
jeffrey osborne:
that someone somewhere will soon make a change
tina turner:
we all are a part of god's great big family
james ingram:
and the truth, you know, love is all we need

michael/diana:
we are the world chorus

dionne warwick:
well, just send 'em your heart
so they know that someone cares
dionne and willie nelson:
so their lives may be stronger and free
willie:
as god has shown us by turning stone to bread
al jarreau:
and so we all must lend a helping hand

the boss:
we are the world, we are the children
kenny loggins (!!!):
we are the ones who make a brighter day,
so let's start giving
steve perry:
oh, there's a choice we're making
we're saving our own lives
darryl hall:
it's true, we make a brighter day just you and me

michael:
when you're down and out, there seems no hope at all
huey lewis:
but if you just believe, there's no way we can fall
cyndi lauper:
we-we-we-we-we-wwelll let's realise
oh that a change can only come
kim carnes:
when we
kim and someone else:
lend a helping hand
cyndi:
yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah

everyone:
we are the world chorus x a gazillion
ray charles, the boss, stevie, bob dylan, jeffrey osborne:
ad-libs over chorus

that's how i remember it, anyway...

Very remarkably done!  The only correction is that it's Kim Carnes and Huey Lewis here singing "stand together as one."

At least they're not re-releasing "Voices That Care."  Although now that I think about it, it'd make a great Onion piece to claim that *every charity single ever recorded* will be re-released this weekend for the tsunami victims.
