TANC: A Boston pub called the 21st Amendment came up in conversation today, wholly unrelatedly.

When I woke at 6AM to listen, it was strange to hear live A's baseball! -- 9th inning of a pre-season game from Japan (A's won 4-3). KFRC then joined AT40 in progress at 6:20am at song #35.  I taped the show, as it was from my HS senior year.  Much cheese then, but some good stuff too.

Ha! I forgot that game was today. Glad they won, but also glad I slept in -- I'll catch some of hour 1 tonite, I woke up in time for "Theme From 'SWAT'".

Wow, the first hour of this week's Klassic Kasem (3/13/76) is a treasure-trove of forgotten mid-charters:

39 - Jigsaw, "Love Fire" (a soundalike follow-up to "Sky High")
36 - Carole King, "Only Love is Real" (I barely remember this one)
33 - BTO, "Take it Like a Man" (I *totally* don't recall this -- Whitburn sez Little Richard is on backing vox!)
32 - Waylon & Wille, "Good-Hearted Woman" (ah, those country-crossover days)
30 - Sweet, "Action" (damn, this is a kickass rocker -- somebody do a cover, please!)
27 - Melissa Manchester, "Just You & I" (A Carole Bayer Sager comp)
26 - Salsoul Orch - "Tangerine" (ah, those disco-remakes-of-Big Band-hits days)

Quite an hour!

Oh, and it's always fun to try and spot the songs that have been edited-for-time: the version of "Love is the Drug" I just heard was barely 2 minutes.

I guess there is a way but I get XM through Directv which you could record it but it's weird to put it onto a VHS (although I've put it on DVD).

Casey's '80s chart this week is March 22, 1980. At #40, a song called "Years" by... Wayne Newton???  Totally new to me. And Gaz will be sorry to have missed #39: "Pilot of the Airwaves".

Other interesting lost hits: Toto's "99" (will this make a comeback in the Get Smart movie?), Anne Murray's Monkees cover, and Tommy James's "3 Times in Love".   The stream's pretty crappy today, I'll have to bail before hearing Teri DeSario wth KC, Ms Ronstadt's fab "How Do I Make You?" and Rupert Holmes's "Him".

I'm sorry to have missed all of this.  "Years" is unfamiliar to me though I was aware of its chart presence.

This morning on terrestrial: March 29, 1975.  One early gem on its way down the chart: Al Martino, "To the Door of the Sun (Alle Porte del Sole)."

New to me: Helen Reddy, "Emotion."  It's a feeling she chooses over feeling numb.

Another one new to me: Fanny, "Butter Boy."  Like when ONJ went rock.  And I heard recently that in British slang, "fanny" is not the rear, but the jayjay.
