"Don't Stop thinkin' about tomorrow" -- a subtle Hilary endorsement?

I really like "Throwing Stones", but I don't see the connection.

WOS GD.

Have to agree, but I'd bet a sawbuck it gets the popular BOS vote.
Let's get right to it.

Speaking of prog-, BOS again for Ambrosia.
I was listening sporadically in car, didn't hear theme.  It obviously wasn't the year, then I thought I figured it out: bells!  The start of the Lennon tune, and the Ambrosia tune was full of them!  Well I was wrong, and I don't dig this pretentious progressive doowah, but I noticed today the T. S. Eliot quote for the first time:

Don't stand in the way of LOVE!

pretty much in line with New Radicals and Fleetwood Mac, and the rest re: the Onward Ever Onward theme:

Sorry, no diss on the Dead, but I was never a big fan of this song (admittedly I was in the minority among Deadheads on that one).  For all their skill at improvisation, I thought they played it pretty much the same way every time they hauled it out, which was too often for my taste.

And nobody took me up on the bet, so the sawbuck stays with me.  ;D

I agree that it's not in the typical mold of the improvisational GD tune, and being as Bobby works out his songs to great detail (listen to his part on China Cat for example) it probably still sounds the same, although I haven't seen Ratdog in over a decade, so I don't really know.  I just think it's a good song for ecopolitical issues.  I always like the line
Quote
Picture a bright blue ball,
Just spinnin', spinnin, free.
Dizzy with the possibilities.
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!

I'm rarely one to defend the Dead, but I've long been impressed by the stanza "shipping powders back and forth / singing: black goes South and white comes North."  BOS to Chaka and the gang, and I wonder what the name is for that whirring-into-stratosphere sound effect that "Once You Get Started" shares with Kool & the Gang's "Summer Madness," and then via sample thereof with the Fresh Prince's "Summertime."  I really dig it.

Dang! I heard the replay but didn't realize what a great bonus track I'd missed.  If only Dave would play that in its year on the spinning wheeel.
