OMGWTF: Les Crane drops 12 notches to 22 with "Desiderata."

"The dull and ignorant - they, too, have their story."
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Peter Nero's pre-rock-sounding "Theme From 'Summer of '42' " was surreal to hear at 21.  Especially when followed two positions later by Aretha's "Rock Steady" and the Temps' "Superstar."

At 24, up 6: Honey Cone, "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show."

the "sookie-suck you" version!

What a fabulous first hour: Charley Pride kissed an angel, The Grass Roots learned long division, Joe Simon drowned and Betty Wright cleaned up!

and J Geils are doing "Lookin' for a Love" as an "extra".  What a week/what a year.  OMFG! Donny Osmond!

"Hey Girl" is new to me, believe it or not.  Is this Goffin/King songcraft?  It's a cover, right?

I believe it is G/K.  Org by ... Bobby Vee? Jerry Butler may have done it too, and somebody (Bobby Vinton) did a "Hey Girl"/"My Girl" medley iirc.

Dennis Coffey! Woo Hoo!

Some trivia for ya (a story I heard once and wish I'd better committed to memory): The Grass Roots were initially supposed to record "Don't Pull Your Love," but somehow HJF&R got to it first.  The songwriters (Lambert and Potter?) told Rob Grill, "Don't worry, we'll write you another just like it."  And so came "Two Divided By Love."

Donny O and David Cassidy in the same hour!  Swooon!

But Casey would be playing only "Part 1," right?

we'll see... at this point in time everybody considered it a "very important record" as Dave might say -- so we could get all of it.  Have you noticed that some other songs are edited for time?

Ooops -- you were right!  But S&C make up for it, hawn-ey!

"Baby, I'm a wan shoe". Which is a lot more comfortable than a brand new shoe, IMHO. (Or a brand new key, which is yet to come)

"Michael Jackson and his brothers" sez Casey, hedging his bets.
