  1. Rare Earth  -  Born to Wander
  2. Jethro Tull  -  Teacher
  3. Stephen Stills  -  Love the One You're With
  4. The Grateful Dead  -  Box of Rain
  5. Simon & Garfunkel  -  Baby Driver
  6. The Kinks  -  Lola
  7. Jaggerz  -  The Rapper
  8. Eric Clapton  -  Layla
  9. Cat Stevens  -  Father and Son
10. Emerson, Lake & Palmer  -  Lucky Man

I have some of these but not all so can't make my own CD.

Hot diggety dog, it worked! It is one big file. I kind of expected 10+ files, one for each song and soundbite, kind of like the CDs Urth burns. Mind you I'm not complaining. It went right into my iTunes Library and I can burn CDs.  wooo hooo. That was exhilirating.

there's a program for free called Audacity, which can chop up your one big file into small ones if you like.  If you're feeling brave, check it out:

Thanks. I just downloaded it. I'm too tired now though to try figuring out what to do with it. I just completed an online job application that took about an hour. Must detach from keyboard. Must!

Wait, can't detach. Geoff, do you have Dick's Picks, I think 10 or 11, from Winterland 12/28/77? If yes, can I borrow it for a burn? Turning off computer now, really.

I was going to say yes for the mac, thought I saw the option, but just went to the site, http://www.replay-radio.com/ and don't see the option. Browse a bit. Geoff is the resident mac pro.

Alicat, have you listened to it yet?  I tried Replay Radio a couple months ago, but because the stream itself was of relatively low bit-rate I got a very poor quality recording that wasn't worth keeping.  Big difference between how the stream sounded 'live' coming out of the little speakers on my desk at work & how the recorded stream sounded coming out of the Klipsch sound system of my home media center.

Very curious to hear about your experience.

Exactly the same as yours! I listened live while it was recording and it was great. I then burned it to CD and loaded to iPod. Listened to the iPod and the quality is not top notch. If it's the best I can get right now, OK. Are there alternatives? Urth explained what he does but I don't have a dat recorder or the right set up for it.

The problem is the GIGO rule.  Most streams are only in the 32-64 kbps range (minimum for CD quality is 128).  Recording it digitally involves a codec that will not give a 100% playback.  Starting from a .wav file (ripping from a commercial CD) the sonic quality loss due to the codec is not noticeable unless you are an audiophile the way Paul Giamatti's character in Sideways is an oenophile.  But starting from a low bitrate stream the codec compounds an already low quality sound.  GIGO

That's why Urth's set up works better, because he is recording the actual FM broadcast, which is of very high sonic quality, rather than the stream, which is not.  Someday soon, when everyone has gigabyte streaming and terabyte disc space this will work seamlessly.
