Yes.  But her name isn't nearly as great a band name as the other.  I for one would give one of Chris Martin's eyes for him to rename his band Big Maybelle.

That ol' heathen!

OK, you sold me: I'm listening now.  Len Barry, "1-2-3" is a good way to start.  But if I get bored I'll be CGing it later.

I'm CG-ing... "Heartache Avenue" by the Maisonettes. Never heard this before. And followed by Cass -- "It's Gettin Better"!!

BTW, poc, speaking of Black Church Ladies... what do you make of Tyler Perry? His movie of "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" opens tomorrow. He plays the grandmother character in drag. But it's like, not a comedy. WTF?

that's because it isn't funny. at least not to me. this is the madea thing, right? which i have a hard time not pronouncing like "madea."

my dad has the videos of the plays. sometimes i watch them with him. but i don't think they're funny. of course, they're targeted towards a conservative, black, religious, middle-aged audience.

anyway, i don't know anything about the movie - i've only seen the billboards.

Apparently Mr Perry plays 3 roles in the thing, including Madea. I was almost tempted (I loves me some Steve Harris, who plays the cheatin husband) but it really sounds awful from what I've read. I know that black-gospel-stage-play thing is a goldmine, they always advertise on Kiss and KBLX whenever one's at the Paramount.
