I was sure "Rock of Ages" week would include a '90s set. Well, there's always tomorrow (and then '60s on Friday? -- "Can't hardly wait")

'81 & '87 are most overdue.

'87 on the nose--and leading with Can't Hardly Wait is a damn fine way to begin. Yay 'Mats!!

Except I always forget about the cheesy horn part in this tune. Feh.
Let's get right to it.

and 1987 it is.  I could make several great sets out of this year, I thought at the time that the last half of '85 & most of '86 were relatively sucky for music, but the pendulum swung back in '87.

so could I...  unfortunately Dave usually can't. Cue "Hourglass"!

Oh for "I Knew You Were Waiting" or "When Smokey Sings"....

Getting Crowded House out of the way relatively early.

re-releases are such a cheat.

At the gym I keep hearing that godawful dance record that just repeats the "call on me" hook from this Winwood song over... and over... and over...  Just torture, I tell ya!

I remember being really disappointed in George when this came out.  I felt a little better knowing it wasn't his tune originally.  This one along with "Hourglass", now playing, are totally 1987 for me.  I remember the videos especially.

glad I traded "Hourglass" (gotta be in the top three '87 Katrinas, yes?) for Sniff'n'the Tears on KINK.

I think '87 and '89 are the 2 most infuriating years on the wheel -- Dave goes on total autopilot and picks 10 songs from a 15-to-20-song pool, it seems.
