a guest appearance by "Big Dave", some sort of soul music collector I guess.

Night-Lighters, "K-Gee"!

Must be, but he's got a helluva collection. Some really nice stuff gettin' spun here--Jackie Wilson's Baby Work Out and then Sittin' in the Park, both rockin' my world.

Was looking at the KRSH staff page to see if Big Dave were maybe their overnight man or something (he's not) and saw a pic of Candi Chamberlain, the woman that does middays. She could be Alicat's sister!

(And Ivy Wolfe, who does weekend overnights, is really really cute!)
Let's get right to it.

Back to CGSS for Shanice, "I Love Your Smile", one of the nicest pop singles of the '90s. "You dig?"

home from Miami Vice just in time for JJ on KPOO. He played Solomon Burke's "Electronic Magnetism", new to me, so I got out the R&B chart book, and it's from '71... but I discovered that Mr Burke did "Proud Mary" in '69, 2 years before Ike & Tina (and he got to 15 R&B and 45 Pop!) AND he did a soul cover of "Shambala" in '73!!

well, good thing I just-so-happened to turn on the radio early -- The Bone started Little Steven's show at 8:35 (!)

Some weeks it's on time; some weeks it starts at 9:10; some weeks 8:50... but 8:35 is reeeeeeally pushing it.

ETA: Steven's buried gem of the week -- Stiv Bators doing a cover of Slade's "Gud'buy to Jane", new to me, although (per Steven) it was recorded somewhere between his stints with the Dead Boys and the Lords of the New Church.
