WLNG Nugget o'the Day: Bill Cosby, "Little Old Man (Uptight)", one of the odder records ever to hit the Top 5.

I've never heard it!  What's it sound like?  Is it a comedy routine with the SW song cut in?

It's Cosby talking about a little old man he meets on the street who says weird stuff, and a Chorus (it ain't Stevie; wrong label) sings the chorus of "Uptight" at intervals. It really has to be heard to be believed -- and it got to number 4 nearly 2 years after the original hit!

OMG! Phil Oakey/Giorgio Moroder, "Electric Dreams", one of the great lost tracks of the '80s. Fab.

and followed by Blondie's "Maria" a wonderful single that KFOG ignored when it was released in '98 or '99 or whenever it was.  Yet they've played "Heart of Glass" incessantly for decades.

not to pick, but betcha it's "Call Me" & "One Way Or Another" they play to death, not so much "Heart of Glass".

oh yeah, OWOA is right up there too. Which is why I was shocked that they didn't play "Maria" -- Alice played it and it did well for them.

That song deserved to be a *much* bigger hit.  It went to #1 in England but could only struggle into the 80s in America because radio's scared fuckless of older artists.  See also the relative chart failure of Fleetwood Mac's "Peacekeeper," which also should have been a big pop hit.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”
