1. They got to B awfully fast: 12:15.

2. Whoever's putting together this list really likes The Who: Another Tricky Day, Athena and Baba O'Riley to open the B's.

IIRC, the last few have been 2012 (mid-year, beginning of DC’s “new” KFOG), 2009, and 2008 (each at the beginning of the year)...so we’re long overdue. 2012 was my favorite since DC threw in a bunch of songs that weren’t ones you usually hear anymore (i.e. New Radicals “Someday We’ll Know,” The Blessing “Delta Rain,” Eurogliders “Heaven”) & was new-wave heavy. 2008 was also good and pretty extensive. 2009 felt rushed.

So far, this one’s been kind of “meh” IMO, with the rarest tracks being moderately popular 10@10 tracks. We got through the As a little too quickly, too. Still, I welcome the return of A-Z. It will be nice to hear the most overplayed songs only a maximum of one time each for the next week or so.

My favorite A-Z I’ve listened to on any station was 91X in 2005, right after they were forced to defect from Clear Channel. They literally played hundreds of classic alternative hits...and it was the first time (and in some cases, the only time) I’ve heard many of them on the radio.

Without checking, I’m guessing the following were NOT included in this year’s version of A to Z:

Armageddon It
Axel F
Alejandro
Am I The Same Girl?
Anchorage
Another Lover
After The Rain
Allentown
Aerials
Ain’t That A Shame (any version)

that in of itself sounds like a Christmas present.

Since we're getting new 10@10's this week, will the A to Z marathon take a five-hour break on Saturday morning for the 10@10 replay?

good question.  It's going 6a-10p with a break for 10@10. Regular playlist on the o'nites. Not sure whether Dred's doing "Connected".

In the midst of mostly '80s/'90s/'00s, I was never so happy to hear the Dead this morning at 6:15.  But not long after that, the segue from "Centerfield" to "Centerfold" was the twin-spin from hell.

Here's the first song I don't ever remember hearing on KFOG including 10@10..."Codes and Keys" by Death Cab for Cutie.

I called in an hour & a half ago to say that this was, iirc, the first A-Z that didn't go from JB's "Cold Sweat" into Nirvana's "Come As You Are".

Furthermore, nothing seems to have been made of it, but it was pretty nearly exactly 15 yrs ago that KFOG did this the 1st time.

The corollary of the above 2 statements is that I have a very clear memory of sitting at a certain desk at a certain job which puts it squarely in early 2000.  I was calling in to Annalisa the very first time around to request something (that much I have forgotten), and when she asked me if I was enjoying the concept I said something about how cool it was to go from JB to Nirvana.  And within like 90 seconds they went to commercial and played a promo for A-Z into which she had edited in my comment (!)

I called back right away to ask/congratulate her on how she got me into the clip that fast.  And it played dozens more times over the following week or so.

Btw, I agree on how fast they went through the A section, but they seem to be playing a lot more attention to the C section.

(pun intended!)

...and when I made that comment this morning they all agreed that that would have been a cool song to include & maybe they should do a 'make up set' of A-Z. To which I replied that DM more than once did in fact do a 10@10 of one song per letter of songs that got skipped, based entirely on Foghead suggestions.  And they all seemed to think that was a good idea, so just maybe...?

Those of you active on FB should push this, methinks.

it would not surprise me if that becomes our Theme Set of the Week (Friday, probably). But the exclusion of JB isn't a surprise either, as there seems to be a lot less '60s stuff except for Beatles, Stones and (I presume) a Hendrix cut or 2.

Yes, they had a rather lengthy discussion, and played at least one Foghead call regarding, "All Along The Watchtower" yesterday morning.

Godley & Creme “Cry” > Peter Murphy “Cuts You Up.” Nice.

To quibble, I believe it's been 16 years (1999). I don't want to admit it either. I do believe they did it again in Y2K.

(I only know because I was listening to it with my then-gf, and I can be very precise about these things)

AL just posted on FB that she was playing Falco's "Der Kommissar" -- can I assume they didn't also play the ATF version?
