Bob Seger's Rock N Roll Never Forgets - an all-American song from an all-American year.
But apparently rock n roll forgot to acknowledge Cinco de Mayo here as well.
-
I was guessing '77--missed it by this much.
-
Something weird was happening at the end of Jailbreak with the voiceover and song playing in and out. But as Nick says, so it goes.
-
Better keep yo' backstage passes...'cause the promoter had the muscle. BOS Nick Lowe & Rockpile, And So It Goes.

was Rockpile on that (nominally) solo Lowe LP?

Dang, the sound on the Sound is so nice -- makes "Year of the Cat" sound fantastic.
-
BOS "Year of the Cat." Sheer poetry.

true, it's very clear.
BOS Jailbreak and Al Stewart

The man was really talented, and they don't write "smart" like that any more.

I think the song ended but the segue still featured that same song as back ground music. oops, production planning mistake. It was a little weird.

he's still around. Not cranking out the hits like he used to, but still committed to writing songs around obscure historical events and figures and such.. :)

Oh yeah, Reputah the Beautah! Big BOS for me.
-
BOS, Musta Got Lost.
They edited 'bitch' from the intro... (open up the door _____, this is the wooba gooba with the green teeth sayin' let me in)
-
Did y'all prepare yourself for the Rubberband Man?
-
Whoo, Rubberband Man! Always been a favorite, but mainly because I arranged it for the Stanford Band years ago, and they still play it. Always good for a big smile.
-
BOS Spinners!
-
BOS3 "A Trick of the Tail." Sounds about right today.

Yep. AMG's listing for Pure Pop For Now People credits Bremner, Edmunds, Lowe & Williams, while the one for Jesus of Cool just lists Lowe.

Huh? they're the same LP, no? (Jesus... being the UK title)

not my fave track from the record, but still an BOS from me, too.
And then there were four!

More or less--one track was omitted (Shake and Pop), one has a different version, and the running order was shuffled for the US release, but they're essentially the same album.
ETA: AMG is pretty inconsistent in their credits, I've noticed, and this album is a good example. Their entry for PPFNP lists the four musicians I mentioned above and no one else. JoC lists only Nick Lowe, and only as a producer, no musicians are credited at all.

Rock and Roll Never Forgets - Bob Seger
So It Goes - Nick Lowe
Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy
Year of the Cat - Al Stewart
Smokin' - Boston
Must Have Got Lost - J. Geils Band
Wasted Time - Eagles
The Rubberband Man - The Spinners
American Girl - Petty
A Trick of the Tail - Genesis
I'm guessing that Jesus of Cool was a '76 UK release? the US version, "PPFNP", didn't come out here until late '77 iirc.

not exactly sure how AMG works (Gaz prob does), but I think much of their content is user-generated -- at least to start with until it gets cq'd -- so the JoC inconsistency might originated w a civilian who was trying to be helpful but who just didn't have all the details down.

In a nutshell: CDs are submitted to AMG, whose staffers input varying amounts of information. The review is passed on to a freelancer like me; we have a Web-based content tool for input, in which we can add as much or as little info beyond the review as we feel the compunction to do: track listings, credits, influences, similarities. Since AMG pays shittily ($10-$20 per review, depending on one's negotiating power), most people submit the bare minimum info. For AMG's database to be as robust as IMDB's, they're going to have to shell out some cash. (I have no idea of IMDB's biz model or compensation to submitters.)

As a matter of fact, Larry commented on So It Goes during the backsell. Said it was the very first single released on Stiff Records, in 1976. Then later, when JoC/PPFNP was released ('77 I presume), it was also included there.
