Judge is doing a 4-hour Isaac Hayes tribute on KPOO. Could be worth a listen -- he's including other artists that Hayes produced.
-
Lawd! Mr Hot Buttered Soul covering the Iceman's "Never Gonna Give You Up"

new to me: a disco thang from '78 called "Zeke the Freak". (le freak, c'est... Zeke?)
-
"Sweet Sweet Music" indeed -- an Isaac Hayes/Millie Jackson duet that's new to me.
Followed by a Hayes production: Linda Clifford's "Shoot Your Best Shot".
-
A few weeks ago I posted about a Jerry Butler/Brenda Lee Eager duet of "Close to You" that I said was "very Hayes-ish". And now here's Isaac's own version!
-
JJ plays some very young and early Ree-Ree: "Runnin' Out of Fools".
followed by an Isaac Hayes production: Mabel John, "Your Good Thing Thing is About To Come To an End". Lawd have mercy!
-
OMFG! another early Isaac Hayes production: 1966's "Patch My Heart (and Start All Over)" by the Mad Lads -- which appears to be the basis of Color Me Badd's "All 4 Love"!!!
check it out:

CGSS plays one of my fave forgotten philly-soul classics: Chi-Lites, "Stoned Out of My Mind"
"I was just a back-seat driver in a car of love..."
followed by the Ross-less Supes, "Floy Joy".

Holy hell! Nice catch!

Your body! My body! Everybody work your body! CGSS gives us "Let's All Chant". Whoop! Whoop!
For years I thought "Everybody work your body" was "Everybody wants your body"
-
TANC, as discussed by Gaz & myself last week: Nina Simone's orig of "Don't let me be Misunderstood", on CGSS. Sublime.
-
Another orig version: Betty Everett's "Gettin' Mighty Crowded", which is yet another Isaac Hayes composition iirc.
-
WLNG Nugget: creepy Gary Puckett helps yet another girl become a woman, now.
ETA: meanwhile Frankie Valli goes the other way: he never laid a hand on her, but his eyes adored her. And his nose abhorred her.
-
switched to CBS-FM in time to hear EJ and Sedaka bite off a little bit more than they could, er, chew.
-
CBS-FM's "Hall of fame" feature today is (naturally, since the anniv of his death is tomorrow): Elvis. And here's the great "Kentucky Rain".

and in between they're doing Jerry Wexler tidbits. A snippet of a Tom Dowd interview, followed by Ree-Ree's "Respect".

I wish I'd taken a sick day today. Would really rather be cleaning my apartment and listening to the radio this afternoon. It's one of those days when life is running faster than me. (And it's been way too long since I last heard "Kentucky Rain," my second favorite Elvis song.)
-
hush now, chil'... CGSS is playing Curtis, "Move On Up".
-
CGSS plays Ms Houston, "Queen of the
Dykes Night"
And now Luther V treasures "all that new & true & gay" -- no kidding.
