Hey Gaz, speaking of big TANC's, did you notice Alicat's avatar?

(Adrian in particular liked the gift, by the way).
explanation requested  :)

Joe spent a night at my house last month...

Playing quick catchup on the posts here, I thought it was Joe Frank who spent a night at your house last month. :)
No, Joe Frank was with me last month.

Better him than Joe the Plumber. :)
Let's get right to it.

"How Long" may be a Katrina, but it's one I never tire of.

I always associate this song with Player's "Baby Come Back" since they came out around the same time

I have always made the same connection as well.  Anyone else?

Both self-pitying pub rock, so the connection's certainly there.  But Player wasn't a OHW - they made #10 with their forgotten follow-up, "This Time I'm in It for Love."

And I want to say the Player song came out at least two years later--I associate it with my second semester in college, which would make it late 77 or early 78. .

yup -- late '77
Well, fine.  I was only 11 in 75, so I probably didn't notice it then.  Musta still been big on the radio in the later 70s.

Did he pull his love (out)?

I'm ashamed to admit I think Mr Plumber (tho' he is a complete idiot) is kinda hot

of course, his resemblance to Drew Remenda may have something to do with it...

Dave, you're absolutely right. That WAS a good set.

1.)  Ian Hunter - Once Bitten, Twice Shy
2.)  Led Zeppelin - Boogie With Stu
3.)  Pilot - Magic
4.)  Queen - Killer Queen
5.)  Tubes - White Punks On Dope
6.)  10cc - Blackmail
7.)  Ace - How Long
8.)  ABBA - S.O.S.
9.)  Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds - Fallin' In Love
10.)  David Bowie - Golden Years

pop quiz - including this set, how many times do you think each tune has appeared in the 59 sets from 1975 in my Db?  None is a bustout, and only one is officially a Katrina (i.e. in over 20% of the sets.)

I was gonna say, in a Drew Remenda kind of way?
btw, I'll be at 3 games this month and I think I just added the Feb 5 Hurricanes game. Remenda me when you're going to be there.  ;)

I agree!  And hey, he can't say dumb things if his mouth is full.

PS: I've long mondegreened your sig line as "good sense, innocence, crippled mankind" - but I like your read better.

I was there Sat nite (I didn't realize the Islanders were the worst team in the NHL) for another fab victory. That was supposed to be my last game, but I just added Sat March 14 (LA Kings).  Hard to pass up a team that never loses. And I keep finding good restaurants in downtown SJ.

I have the Sat Mar 14 game too. Want to meet for dinner? I should get you down to the pregame skate which for a 7pm game means being down at the glass by about 6:15.

eta: I thought the Islanders were #3 in the NHL. No?

Islanders are dead last; Rangers are #5, tho'.  If you want dinner AND pre-game skate, we'd have to meet by 5, I guess.

That's about what my expectation was as well, but in fact the numbers are mostly quite different (you did hit Abba spot on tho').

Ace is the big Katrina at 14, with 10cc at 10 & Ian Hunter (!) at 9.  All others are between 2 & 5 appearances.  ABBA and Pilot (!) at 5, Zep with 4, Tubes and Queen (!) at 3, with H, JF & R and Bowie (!) at 2.

wow, that's amazing. Of course, our perceptions are colored by regular KFOG airplay, and gawd knows the Queen tune is one of their most-overplayed regular-rotation "classics" over the last 5 years or so (up there with "Rocket man" and "Sweet Home Ala-bummer"). But that it has only been in 3 '75 sets is stunning.

Geoff, hope you weren't playing this in the classroom today--all those tender little ears!
no problem here!  I got sick of this song a long time ago!
