One of his mathematical songs.

OMG! another black person!  VHM "Freddie's Dead", Saw Superfly on Centric recently and they bleeped the living crap out of it. (They even bleeped the N-word in the song "Pusherman" -- I mean, serously?)

for me, 1972 radio (KSAN) would be ABB "One Way Out" for example.

Renee blames Michael Franti for her poor execution of today's set...?

Well, she ID'd the artist of song 2, Hot Tuna, but she never mentioned the song title. So perhaps Michael F. did get her all flustered and twitterpated.
Let's get right to it.

I think I just heard what she meant -- the segue from the All in the Family clip into Everybody Plays the Fool with a 10@10 bumper in between was kinda sloppy.
Let's get right to it.

Hot Tuna!

Another example of a local band getting short shrift.  Only Keep On Truckin' and Water Song
have ever appeared on 10@10, and little more gets played on KFOG generally.  Given their
intimate connection to Jefferson $flying_conveyence and an audience full of receptive Deadheads,
one would expect to hear a lot of them on the station.

Jerry!  BOS3 / proxy of geoff, "Sugaree"
I like the song and all, but sometimes live it's not been my favorite.  Kind of a relentless sound.

I would add that it's kind of LN in that it's heard quite a bit outside of 10@10.

'72 Olympics Massacre --> "Hold Your Head Up". VHM Argent.  Ah, the Summer of '72.
early prog rock
 :P

Its hey-day only lasted about eight years, so I'd peg this as middle-Progrockian period.

I'd call "Cisco Kid" an LN, but YMMV.  Chase those gringo bastards, yo.
DM only played it a couple of times; not sure how much it's turned up since then. Low Rider is a far more egregious offender, but it's in 75.
I'm also factoring in how often I hear it elsewhere, which is a LOT.

I think there's value in a distinction between LN, which is an overall assessment, and a FF within
the context of 10@10, and this set really demonstrates that.  Surprisingly, the closest thing to
a FF today is Hold Your Head Up.  Just about everything else is firmly in the low-spin category,
yet the Hot Tuna, Garcia, and War tunes get a lot of play elsewhere.  And once again, there are
plenty of so-called "deeper cuts" from all those artists that would have been good choices.

BOS to Stephen Stills, yet another underappreciated artist whose catalogue would make a
welcome addition to 10@10.  It's sad to see a station with a history like KFOG's in a city that
was and is one of the major music centers on the planet using the Cliff Notes when it comes to
making programming choices.  This was a good set from a very strong year, but with two or
three better selections it could have been great.
