Best Song by a Politically Repulsive Neanderthal: "Cat Scratch Fever"

Nugent is a whole bundle of contradictions, it's a wonder he doesn't just spontaneously combust.  I agree that he is a reactioanry whacko politically, yet he is also a drug- & alcohol-free dedicated family man in a line of work where that's nearly unheard of.  Very contradictory guy, all of which I try not to think of when I listen to Double Live Gonzo.

I have probably said this before, but first and foremost he's an astute marketer who tapped into a demo that had been long ignored. Early FM rock radio and the jocks who populated it often made the assumption that everyone in the audience was left-of-center, anti-war, pro-choice etc, because why else would they be listening to this music?  But of course a lot of male hard-core rock fans are quite right-wing.  Nugent recognized that and aimed straight at them and the rest is history.

I think he genuinely is part of that "male hard-core rock fans who are quite right-wing" demographic, he long ago drank that koolaid.  I think he should be the poster boy for why people should take drugs.  Him & Rumsfeld.
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

That's the second time recently you've quoted a set that included S&G's "Only Living Boy in NYC."  I'm gonna have to put the DDT back into rotation.

Oops ... wrong planet ...
