This set in general was pretty ballsy.  Half of it was cheese:

Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine
Enya - Orinoco Flow (if you can call it that)
Billy Ocean - Get Out of My Dreams, Get Into My Car
Escape Club - Wild Wild West (LN cheese, but still)
Paula Abdul - Straight Up

The U2 song was def. a rarity, and the Morrissey song isn't exactly a KFOG staple.  That really only leaves John Hiatt, Neil Young, and The Waterboys as the safe choices.

One, one of these days they're going to play the woman I often confused with Enya, Basia.

I'd probably add "Wild Wild West" to the list of safe choices, in the sense it's been played so many times without the sun blowing up.

Does safe mean kinda, sorta post-hippie?

Yes, given that KFOG in general is the kinda, sorta post-hippie station

I enjoyed the Bon Jovi and Billy Ocean. Cheese is in the eye of the beholder.

I enjoyed them too.  Nothing saying one can't enjoy a slice of cheese...or five.

Enya "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)"
Just gotta give some love to this.  When this came out, we were in Germany, and seemed to hear it wafting everywhere.  The international geography quiz shtick works real well in that frame of mind.

One of the two Enya songs that I've heard that I really like.  Unfortunately it's very overexposed,
which has reduced much of the joy I used to have upon hearing it.

HAAAAAAY! Paula Abdul "Straight Up"

Not my favorite Paula Abdul song, although it's my favorite from her 1990 release of
Shut Up and Dance: The Dance Mixes.

I enjoyed the Bon Jovi and Billy Ocean. Cheese is in the eye of the beholder.

Indeed.  I don't find either Orinoco Flow or Straight Up particularly cheesy, although
neither is in KFOG's wheelhouse.  I would classify the first as New Age and the second as
dance pop.
