Beach Boys ripping off Chuck Berry.
I was just discussing this with another teacher the other day.  As I remember, they initially ripped him off, but eventually gave him some songwriter credit on the album.  I can now go to wikipedia and see if I have it right!

Amazing the sound quality difference between this and the extremely muddy and flat-sounding Dave Clark Five.

While there were a couple of obvious choices, this seems like a must-listen for tonight.

a miracle it happened at all, really. Given we never visit '63, even the "early Sixties for Dummies" choices sounded good.  For balance we should get 2003 tomorrow.

Renee hasn't visited 2002 or 2003 yet.

'twould be the perfect opportunity, methinks.  Maybe I'll finally get my Junior Senior suggestion.

In case you needed confirmation, 1963 does not appear at all (as a 10-song year) in the Shraytabase. And neither does '64.  Dave did do a '60s Vertical tasting ('61 to '70) in Oct of 2007.  AL did '64 a couple times and also a couple of "Sixties Chartbusters" sets.  We've gotten '64 from RR (or maybe it was Rosalie sitting in?) and now we've hit '63 in the Renee era.

Don't hold your breath for '62.  ;)

'64 was visited three times during RR's tenure: October 23rd (Rosalie filled in); April 12th; and June 25th.

Anyone know what the response was like over at Gsnipes?

"I have no idea why we're doing this year, but someone will appreciate it"

Did Renee or Gory say that? It's a really crappy thing to say.
