I was certainly confused at first!

Some of the commenters on SFGate were having a field day with this, too. This is an AP story with a dateline London, and that's what the band was called over there.  (perhaps they refer to the 60s band as The Charlatans US?)  I'm not surprised your guys picked up on that, but I bet most Americans don't really know either band.
