what's the deal with the Tracy Chapman hatred?  That was a good track.

(a) we've discussed my she's-not-sufficiently-uncloseted-for-my-taste issue before (totally my problem, but still), and how we love to "out" right-wing closet cases but left-wingers get a free pass. So that's part of it for me. I've also found her overrated, generally.

(b) KFOG's choices in blues are always pretty boring, or else have to involve blues people doing remake-duets with non-blues people who happen to be KFOG staples. Feh.

1.  You're dissing a strong, well-played classic blues song because you don't approve of the performers' speed in coming out?

2.  Do you have data on how often this particular version has been played on 10@10?  How tight is the blues ghetto you'd keep BB in, such that Tracy Chapman is seen as an outsider? 

Compared to the drek played all the time, this was a nice blast of good music.

Jeezus H Fucking Christ.  The 2 points are not necessarily related. You asked about "the Tracy Chapman hatred" and I addressed that. She annoys me for the reason I gave. I acknowledged that it's my problem.  (and we've discussed that here previously at great length, actually).

As to the music part, I'm not a huge blues fan to begin with, but I'd call that track watered-down commercialized blues for people who don't normally listen to the stuff. Which is why it's on KFOG.

I think saying that Chapman can be construed as being a bit dry can be considered worthy criticism - heaven forbid you get stuck on a road trip with only Chapman material, not that it's ever happened to me. OTOH, the success of "Give Me One Reason" was a triumph of sorts in 1996... one can have a song that is both very good and very popular.
