Ummm, I think his name is *Storm* Thorgerson.

(Wasn't Scott Torgerson (or something like that) Liberace's chauffeur?)

Thanks for the link.  I've been to Devil's Postpile, and knew about the Giants Causeway and the LZ album cover.  For some reason, it never clicked with me that Devil's Tower (the one in Close Encounters) was also columnar basalt.
