Unless I'm mistaking something, no women in this set.

Van Halen "You Really Got Me"

Some guitarists will lament the absence of Eruption as an intro to this. I've always felt that, though Eruption is an impressive technical feat, it's not really good music.
In my old life in the guitar biz, I've spent way too much time in guitar stores hearing 14 year old boys doing those licks.  At NAMM shows, it just stays in the air like stale tobacco smoke.

Interesting exchange between RR and DC around 3pm: RR just played UB40's "The Way You Do The Things You Do". As RR begins to handoff to DC, she starts playing the Temptations' original, to which the following exchange happens:

RR: Ahh, this sounds so good! I should play this song on a 10@10!
DC: Doesn't this song date back to 1963? Does 10@10 go back that far?
RR: Who cares? We set the rules!
DC: (Laughs) I guess so...

Now, wouldn't that be something if they went back to 1963 for a 10@10?

BTW, the Temptations version of "The Way You Do The Things You Do" actually charted in 1964, so it would have been 10@10 approved...

of course, the UB40 version is from 1990, so of course it'd be eligible, but that's not really the point.

10@10 did go to 1964 not too long ago (I'll check in a sec). And the idea that RR helps set the rules...

EDIT, indeed we went there 10/23/2012, to which RGM wrote: "23 Oct 2012: it's... 1964!! (I may faint)"

uber-uber-LN-infinity: Joe Walsh. And yes, she played this last time.

1. Gerry Raferty - Baker Street
2. The Grateful Dead - I Need A Miracle
(Oscars: Vanessa Redgrave gets booed)
3. Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band - Hollywood Nights
(Oscar: Paddy Chayevsky rebuts Redgrave)
4. Plastic Bertrand - Ca plane pour moi
5. Van Halen - You Really Got Me
6. Doobie Brothers - Minute By Minute
(Movie - Close Encounters)
7. Queen - Bicycle Race
8. Sweet - Love Is Like Oxygen
(Oscars: Johnny Carson/John Wayne)
9. Bruce Springsteen - The Promised Land

Today's 10@10 (first nine), translated to "Somebody's all-time favorite SF Giants team":

P: Mark Leiter
C: Steve Decker
1b: David Green
2b: Manny Burriss
ss: Johnnie LeMaster
3b: Kent Oberkfell
lf: Mike Felder
rf: Pat Sheridan

General response at this point: Damn this team sucks

cf: Willie Mays

New response: OMFG this is the greatest team EVER!!!!

My alternative 1978 playlist:

 1. Wings - I've Had Enough
 2. Rita Coolidge - The Way You Do The Things You Do
 3. Chicago - Alive Again
 4. Little Roger & the Goosebumps - Gilligan's Island (Stairway) (the novelty track)
 5. The O'Jays - Use Ta Be My Girl
 6. Bee Gees - If I Can't Have You (hit number 6-6-6) (though technically it was Yvonne Elliman with the hit)
 7. Blondie - Hanging On The Telephone
 8. Chaka Khan - I'm Every Woman
 9. Robert Gordon - Fire (the original version before the Pointer Sisters remake)
10. Wet Willie - Street Corner Serenade
BONUS TRACK: David Johanssen - Frenchette

Female representation plus a wider variety of genres...

Think any of the above would make it to a RR/DC approved 10@10?

I'm pretty sure we've heard the Blondie track either in the DM or AL eras. Possibly the O'Jays song as well.  I requested "Frenchette" a bunch of times to no avail but I did get AL to play "Funky But Chic". The Wet Willie track showed up on AT40 recently and I noted how much it sounds like Hall & Oates' "Voices", which it pre-dates by several years.

I interviewed her once; she was extremely kind and gracious, and didn't let all the haters get to her.
