Glad I'm missing this, altho' AL's late-'90s sets were not the greatest either.

This has been really awful, but at least we haven't heard any ska or swing revival -- yet.

I liked most of these songs but none of them were N or anything close, and we got two of the most LN'y LN's of all time, Never There & Bittersweet Symphony.

Indeed. I'm actually surprised she didn't close with Semisonic. And I don't need to tell you that I'm not referring to "Singing In My Sleep".

So, four sets in - have there actually been any bustouts? Siouxsie from Tuesday's 1988 might be a candidate, and it's possible something in 1978 was, but today was just sad - I guess I'll BOS the Verve for its uniqueness, but that's tepid praise.

Siouxie was apparently a bustout. And the Chris Rea was an uber-rarity; it's not in the Shraytabase but I remember Dave playing it once (and it was the "wrong" version that time).  Today... blecchh.

So, apparently Renee said the BNLs song was "the bane of my existence" in 1998... which is funny because KFOG wasn't playing "One Week" in 1998.  When did Renee start at KFOG?  Did Live 105 play "One Week"? I know Alice did.

Ah. I'm not clear whether she went directly from Live 105 to KFOG in '99 or if she had downtime in-between.  I remember she was "Renee Rotten" @ Live 105 and was the "token straight" on their Sunday nite gay show, Hibernia Beach.  I also remember the morning that Kim Wonderley suddenly disappeared from the KFOG Morning Show and almsot simultaneously KFOG had a help wanted ad on one of the industry websites looking for a traffic person.  a month or so later, Renee appeared.

Yeah, this is a hilariously awful set. It's pretty much all Alice circa 1998, but not in a good way.

It's weird to have a year that was meaningful to you be so horribly wrong in so many ways musically. Looking at the top 100 songs on the pop list, I could only recommend Madonna (ray of light).

Much deeper tracks would be something by DJ Shadow or Neutral Milk Hotel. You could do a whole set of the latter and it would be entirely praiseworthy. Didn't hear of NMH until lately but love it.
