I'd never heard "Pros & Cons of Hitch-hiking" before moving to SF -- it got zero airplay in NYC at the time, oddly . Shoulda been right up WNEW-FM's alley, but I think the line about Yoko (with whom the station had a close relationship) mighta made them decide to ignore it.
It's pretty caustic, like much of Roger Waters later output. I'm not a fan.

I'll give a BOS for a pretty and rarish song from U2.

I never really listened that closely to it before today.  Funny line about Yoko.  Also nice to hear David Sanborn on sax.  His solo work can tend to be get pretty sappy, but I love his sideman work.

BOS3 U2.

I like the live version (was released the next year, I believe) better.

That was smooth, I noticed it too.

I suppose It's My Life is an uber-LN, but I love Talk Talk's career arc, and this song's place in it.

Sanborn is playing Saturday at the Russian River Jazz/Blues Fest.  George Benson and TOP also.  Should be a blast.  I'm going up, staying with friends on the River.  Should be a blast.

I agree. They're a great, underrated band.

I love how they usually have the Russ. Riv. jazz Fest the same weekend as the Folsom St Fair, figuring (I guess) that all the homos will be in SF.

wow, you haven't been around in a while.  ;)  LN = "Least Necessary". More than a Katrina, it's song that's overexposed generally and that some people never need to hear again. Of course it might not have been an LN when this set orig aired.

Yeah, I was introduced to David Sanborn by his guest spots on Letterman when he would play during commercials and sometimes with musical guests. I taped several of his albums and listened to them to death.  But seeing him live at SJ Jazz Festival last year was underwhelming, because at times it was soooo... smooth-jazzy.  I love when he brings the funk.

I *loved* his Sunday Night show with Jools Holland.
