he came over to my booth in the early 90's at Nashville NAMM, and I was totally in awe.  There I was, talking to the guy who played bass on "Mercy, Mercy Me." We had a nice talk, he gave me his phone number, but I was too shy to ever call.  It was an honor for him to try out my basses, even if nothing ever happened as a result.
