Wow -- Malcolm's assassination. "People Get Ready" -- nice.
Agreed.
A lot of early applications of stereo effects basically just took one performer or instrument and put in in one channel and often the end result isn't that satisfying, esp w headphones. (Stereo mixes of Beatles is one good example. If they made it in mono, I want to hear it that way.) But the separation mixing in
People Get Ready had a nice twist: the call and response worked well going back and forth.
Left: People get ready...
Right: There's a train a-coming.
L: All you need is faith...
R: To hear the diesels humming
L: Faith is the key
R: Open the doors and board 'em..
has everyone read the
Autobiography of Malcom X? should be required reading in all schools
PS: That was
Robert William Conrad (TV's
Cannon, narrator on
The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show) doing the Pontiac GTO "It's all tiger!" commercial. GTO = Get Turned On!
I Got You Babe makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. I love it. To quote Tom Hanks from that Bosom Buddies clip we hear every time we get to that 80s year :"Oh Sonny Sonny Sonny Sonny Sonny (and Cher)."
