I could do without Dino this morning.  Actually, not Dino per se, but "Amore".

it's an Italian-grandma thing.

WOS2 Warrant -- yes, I know its beloved by some.  ::)

As Rod said, once in a blue moon, particularly this one, is appropiate.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! uber-LN "American Pi, er, Pie"

I'm giving it special dispensation today.  I feel that every classic track should have an occasional entry point into a 10@10.  Just don't make it a habit.

yeah, it's pretty wretched.  It might be something I liked if I was a young teen when it was current.

"Swing it!"

.. But it def belongs here.  I liked this set.

Overall, A for effort -- we need more of these AL-goes-all-out theme sets.

I even liked the Family Guy bit -- much as I hate the show, I appreciate McFarland's love of over-the-top absurd musical numbers.

Just a little disappointed that my Golden Smog suggestion (Pecan Pie) didn't get any love--I'd thought the Jeff Tweedy connection might have given it enough recognition to get some traction, but alas not.
Let's get right to it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! uber-LN "American Pi, er, Pie"

At least it's not the Madonna version.

I would have preferred that one.  :-X

I dunno, man. Shorter definitely, but infinitely more painful to listen to. Which is saying something.

yeah, it had to be Don McLean's original epic, and not Madge's pallid karaoke version.  I never cared much for it, but now I dig American Pie and its imagery and language which I don't think I will ever decipher.

I do recall this time in college (I went to a Catholic university for a while), this frat-boy cover band did American Pie, and SOOO many people were all "Whoo-hoo!" when they sang the line "The three men I admire most, The Father, Son and The Holy Ghost."  I was like "OMFG" (no pun intended).

I used to detest this song with a passion, but have grown to tolerate it recently.  Same goes for "Margaritaville", which I used to associate with Union Street douchebaggery.
