McCain's campaign guru blasts Palin on 60 Minutes:

(article contains a link to video content)

Time's Mark Halperin - whom I frankly don't have great respect for, as he's one of the worst examples of media turning politics into horse races - has a book out this week, Game Change, that furthers the blasting:

To no one's surprise, Pat Robertson says Haiti deserved their earthquake because they "made a pact with the devil".

Add Rush Limbaugh to the idiots list about Haiti. Even conservatives Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough thought it was horrible.

As if they didn't have enough power already, campaign limits on corporations have been lifted:

You've nailed it.  Everyday citizens don't mean shit in our political structure.

The right wing tide just does not stop. The left must recognize this and start trying to circumvent them at every opportunity. Now the repugs are exploiting their majority on the supreme court to further their agenda, that being the one branch of government where they hold an advantage right now.
Let's get right to it.

let's not forget that this also allows any entity, including unions, to contribute as much as they want. Either way, it means more big money in elections and less real meaningful representation for the regular citizen, as Gaz says.

Campaign finance will not happen as long as politicians are in office!

No one should be surprised about this. With minor exceptions, both parties have failed our country.

discouraging thing is this ruling came from one of the entities that is supposed to provide a "check and balance" to the politization that the other two branches are allowed  -- or expected  -- engage in.   Of course, the member of the SCOTUS are nominated by the two parties, so there you go.

This discussion should be in a new thread called "Rant and Rave about the GOPs, the Dems and the American Political System Overall".  For those who think that it's just the Right Wing that swims in big money, check out this site:  http://www.opensecrets.org/

A little good news amidst the mayhem: the killer of abortion doc George Tiller has been convicted of first-degree murder. Only took the jury 37 minutes!
