I like America, but this isn't my favorite.  I guess I always thought of it as a Neil Young knockoff.

Many confused America's "Horse" with Neil, whose 'Heart of Gold' was also on the charts at same time, both tunes hitting #1.  You'll recall America went on to win Best New Artist Grammy for '72, unlike many of those winners, they actually continued to put out hits (thanks in large part to working with producer George Martin).

That was Sweet Black Angel (or sometimes called Black Angel). 

Did the Stones take any gruff for this one?  The lyrics are fairly out there for 72:

The song is a tribute to activist Angela Davis, in jail on murder charges at the time of songwriting.
