BOS3 to "We Can Be Together."  An Airplane bustout?  A major fave either way.  Up against the wall, motherfuckers!

holy crap, did that go out unbleeped?  Funny, considering my Radiohead comment earlier.

kick out the jamz indeed!! BOS6 MC5

So glad I was around for this set.  Forgot to add a BOS to Glen Campbell.  And hell, one for the MC5 as well.

Happy to say Urth was proven wrong -- rather impressively so. I'm sure he won't mind.

Most of the set was your typical DC-ized version of a 60's set.  If DC had his way, it would have been "Volunteers" instead of "We Can Be Together"

and once again -- it's weeks like this that make me wonder if things are getting better or if we just got lucky.  A good '78 set; a GREAT '69 set; and '89 and '92 sets that each included major Pop bustouts. May it be ever thus.

lord knows he leaves his mark on '80s and '90s sets but I'm sure he couldn't've been pleased by Glen Campbell, or that Vandellas obscurity, or JA (and that unbleeped MF) or MC5.  and the rest were Oldies staples but we avoided Steam, Spiral Starecase and some others so I'll give him a pass this time.

Finally!  Something for me!
JA

yay!  BOS5.

good one.

Guitar riff reminiscent of Volunteers Of America, no?
Very much so; written around the same time.  Nicky Hopkins on piano, I believe.

We Can Be Together was the B-side of Volunteers (I looked that up just now). I thought it WAS Volunteers and even posted a lyric from the A-Side on Facebook. Oops.

Not in the slightest. Very happy to see AL invoked the spirit of DM and uncorked what seems to be (based on your running commentary) a damn fine set. Wish I'd heard it live; as usual I'll try for the replay tonight.
Let's get right to it.

On the original liner notes, the record company made them print "Up against the wall Fred!"  This persists in many internet lyrics sites!
