I can't honestly BOS or even VHM "IWALY" -- it's horribly overwrought, with a Barry Manilow-on-steroids production. Everything that was wrong with the pop of that period.  But it *HAD* to be played, so kudos AL.

Thank you. Have to say I really hated the song at the time. I might give it a D/A.

yes, it was never a song I liked.  I did like How Will I Know, for instance, which is really catchy and poppy.  This diva style never got me, yet I like her voice.

Seems like AL got a little choked up at the end there, and despite NOT really liking the song, I kinda did, too.

VHM to LL.
Fixx>Toad, in my opinion.

I agree w that.  But the Fixx were popular when I was glued to the radio.  By the time Toad was hopping around, I moved away from listening as much. And Toad is way mellower than the Fixx, who had a real edge.

I saw them open for the Police in 83

Ooh, nice!  I saw 'em in '09 at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk.  :-X

Not Whitney, but I did like the cover of "It's Gonna Be A Lovely Day".

Whitney was talented, but I could barely get through The Bodyguard. Horrible movie, but it was video and my wife wanted to watch it.

glad you mentioned that.  badly as she wanted to follow the Streisand/Diana Ross template, the fact is that as an actress ... she was a great singer. If you watch that movie carefully you can see how it was edited to disguise the fact that she couldn't really act.
