"Prime Time" was the Tubes?!  Wow - it was NTM, and I almost thought it could have been Donna Summer and Brooklyn Dreams.

BOS, Rapper's Delight.  Actually, it's just awful, but I'm really enjoying it.

Yes, it's something that looks like cheese and tastes like wood.  But I'll eat it.

no hate for the Cars here.
Necessary?  puh-lease...
Good?  of course!

BOS Tubes and Gary Numan
HM to The Pink Floyd.  Run Like H*** is a great song, but you can pretty much hear it every day b/w the Bone and the Fox.

I think this would qualify as an F/A in terms of good/necessary.

the female vocalist, whom I just found out is a woman named Re Styles (born Shirley Marie MacLeod), sounds a lot like Deb Harry to me.

oh, OK -- I thought Gaz's implication was that this was a diff woman. Re Styles is the chick on "Don't Touch Me There" too, yes?

Agreed! That's why I requested it (although I get the feeling the song was programmed in months ago).

1/19/12-Thursday! Lovin' the Variety of 1979!
  1. Robert Palmer – Bad Case of Lovin' You (Doctor, Doctor)
(TV: Trapper John MD)
  2. ZZ Top -  Cheap Sunglasses
(TV interview: The Clash)
  3. The Clash – The Clampdown (B.O.S!)
(Movie: Norma Rae-- union!!)
  4. Sniff 'n' the Tears – Driver's Seat
(TV: Tom Snyder )
  5. The Tubes - Prime Time
(TV: Three’s Company)
  6. Jefferson Starship – Jane
(News: Cronkite/ Three Mile Island Nuke Plant leak)
  7. Gary Numan and the Tubeway Army – Are 'Friends' Electric?
(Movie: The Jerk-"I only have 2 things-my friends & ...my thermos")
  8. The Cars – Let's Go
(Movie: Escape from Alcatraz)
  9.  Pink Floyd – Run Like Hell
("Hey baby, my name is Tony-Would you care to dance?")
 10. The Sugarhill Gang – Rapper's Delight

Too busy with work to listen this morning.  So no one commented on the Gary Numan tune?!   Despite the many 'unsurprising' familiar tunes, on the whole the set IS what 1979 rock radio sounded like, save for Rapper's Delight, a reminder of the days when rap was harmless fun.
