WOS Evanescence -- like a bad mash-up from hell

I know that David Cross would agree.

I love this album. With the exception of those two popular slow songs.

(a) SRW loves this

(b) I actually like some of their "smoother" stuff but this is godawful.

No Doubt --one of the worst most unnecessary cover versions EVER! Sheesh. WOS2. or 3. I've lost count.

RG, I didn't hear the set, but I think I would have joined you in slagging it mercilessly (though, I'm not disappointed in the still aptly named IntellectualElitist). How can anyone hate Hey Ya? It's like the Hey Jude of our time (that's supposed to be a good thing).

12/19/11 - Monday! "Freedom" Fries and Tunes from 2003

 1. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - You Know You Wrong
 2. Jason Mraz - The Remedy (I Won't Worry)
(TV: The Daily Show - Lewis Black on Freedom Fries)
 3. Outkast - Hey Ya!
(TV: Lewis Black on boycotting the French/Celine Dion)
 4. Sarah McLachlan - World On Fire
 5. Calexico - Quattro (World Drifts In)
(News: Peter Jennings reporting - U.S. set to invade Iraq)
 6. Evanescence - Bring Me to Life (B.O.S!)
 7. Sting - Sacred Love
(Movie: How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days)
 8. Maroon 5 - Harder to Breathe
 9. No Doubt - It's My Life
(TV: The Daily Show - Congressman Dick Gephardt - Freedom Kiss?)
10. Liam Lynch - United States of Whatever

So lame.  Most of this was like a Hot AC sample hour from 2003...or 2011.  Most of these were not more necessary than Dave Gahan.  Mraz, McLesbian, Evanescence, Maroon 5, and No Doubt were not necessary at all.

I didn't think it was all that wonderful, but I disagree to the extent that KFOG wasn't playing Evanescence or Maroon 5 in 2003. And if they played the No Doubt it was in VERY light rotation. Can't remember if they played the Mrazzz.

I was quite astounded by the widespread hate for Outkast on FB  -- not just the usual rock-purist cranks but a consensus. I'm sure AL thought that was a slam-dunk, mass-appeal BOS contender; I don't know anybody who didn't like that record in '03.
