KPOO etc week of 12/5/11

the Boardwalk plays Sarah Vaughn's version of "Peter Gunn" -- didn't know it had lyrics!  and song that rhymes "doorway" and "Norway" is a keeper.

The Boardwalk stream is down again, so I'm listening to2NG and they're playing Climie Fisher's "Love Changes Everything" -- best Rod Stewart imitation ever.

OMG: Sheena's "Modern Girl"!

OMFG: Tim Hardin's orig version of "Simple Sing of Freedom" (later recorded by Bobby Darin)

2NG's retro chart is from Dec 1971 -- fab stuff including Scott English's "Brandy" (later transformed in to Barry M's "Mandy") and the Move's "Chinatown"

but this OMGWTF called "Sultana" by a Scandinavian band called Titanic is one helluva Santana ripoff:

ooo! "Softly Whispering I Love You"!!

holee crap: Labi Siffre with the orig of "It Must Be Love" (later covered by Madness) and the orig "oooga-chugga" cover of "Hooked on a Feeling" by Jonathan King -- 2 years before Blue Swede.

holee crap2: the 'oo, "Let's See Action".

OMG: at #2 Benny Hill, "Ernie, the Fastest Milkman in the West" which was apparently an inspiration for "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" (it features a guy named Ted and a horse named Trigger)
