Regarding the new Joe Jackson mentioned a few posts ago in this thread, today Benson the PD played a track called "Invisible Man", and I thought it was excellent.  Some fogheads called in and said a concert date is set for May 9, but Benson couldn't confirm that.

well, that makes up for the double whammy of Nickleback's "Rock Star" and Toby Keith's (!) "I Wanna Talk About Me" which both got played in the 6:00 hour. No, they're not in rotation (tho' "Rock Star", a huge radio hit elsewhere, seemed to be a "test run" to gauge Foghead reaction), but I thought my head would explode.

According to his website, May 10, at the Fox again.

I heard what I assume to be the original version of "Got To Be a Lover" for the first time last night. i sure want to meet the person who dreamt up the Billy Idol version!! Two completely different songs.

Well, Joel Selvin was not at all impressed by Ms. Lynne's Dusty covers:

Quoth Joel:
Quote
"Just a Little Lovin' " is both stiff and a little stale, sins never committed by the redoubtable Dusty herself.

I suppose he never heard Dusty's A Very Fine Love from '95.

anyone else heard Foxboro Hottubs? (just mentioned on the New Released Thursday promo). Little Steven played them Sun nite as his "Coolest Song in the World". and the gimmick is their names are Vinnie Hottub, Guido Hottub, etc. He didn't let on, but it turns out they're a Green Day side project.

Best new band name I've heard in months:

Joe Buck Yourself.

(Or maybe it's one guy solo. Either way, great name.)

Let's get right to it.

"In Our Backyard" is my #1 single of 2008 so far.  (Disclaimer: Amelia, I haven't listened to your new stuff yet, will do so very very soon.)  Just found out about these guys from Seattle tonight on the I Love Music message board.  Am smitten.  Ladies and gents, I present: The Color Bars.

Duffy, "Mercy": The current UK #1 single is a cross between Lulu, Melanie, and French go-go.
