SMF - Just Installed!
Imagine being at the checkout at Whole Foods and there next to all the granola magazines is Imelda's face (with a parasol!) on a CD cover. David Byrne and Fatboy Slim sets the story of the Marcos' rise to power to 70's club music, sung by Nellie McKay, Martha Wainwright, Cyndi Lauper, Sharon Jones, Steve Earle, etc. Weird, right? Talk about a radical re-interpretation: soul legend Betty LaVette covers Ringo -- it really DON'T come easy! I really like this.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_9QRuoZoHEfrom a new album of covers of rock classics she just released. She also does (among others) "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Isn't it a Pity"
