So far The Coasters (I think) and a song that I've never heard before from U2's debut, Boy.

My candidate for the obvious choice is David Bowie's Cat People (Putting Out Fire).

Full set list:
"Three Cool Cats," The Coasters
"An Cat Dubh," U2
"Stray Cat Blues," The Rolling Stones
"Cool for Cats," Squeeze

Tomorrow night: Dogs!

I like "Connected", but the banality of the subjects sometimes amuses me.  Next week Dred should do all root vegatables:  Carrots, Parsnips, rutabagas, potatos, and onions to round out the week.

same here, they can be so random.  Maybe there's an obvious topical connection that he explains on the air?  I don't always listen, so I don't know how he justifies his choices.

But for vegetables:   put down Mothers Of Invention Call Any Vegetable for all days, please.

"... call any vegetable,  pick up the phone and call!..."
Like, OMG!  TANC!

I totes suggested Mothers of Invention, but then I said I would not, could not make the Crows show.  Then I LOL'd real hard like.

And now, TC

BTW, I'd take unwanted Crows AND NASCAR tickets. Quite a prize.

I requested a different Zeppelin song, but I'll take The Lemon Song. John Paul Jones just goes OFF on this one.

OMG and NASCAR tix too?  I think RG calls this Y&S or something.   ;)

Looks like everyone got their requests played here but nobody won.  Maybe we've exhausted the Connected connections 'round here.   :P

The missus did supply me with a 10@10 selection which got played. She still refuses to friend AL though. Maybe I can get her to friend Dred.

And now, TC

BTW, I'd take unwanted Crows AND NASCAR tickets. Quite a prize.

I won a couple months back and got BB King tickets, which I didn't really want, so I offered them up here and some lucky dude snatched them up.

Because my suggestion for last night's veggie set was, ahem,  SO FREAKING AWESOME, I didn't want to run the risk of winning Counting Crows tickets that I didn't really want.  (How's that saying go again?  Oh yeah. "You can's spell CROWS without W-O-S.")

I certainly would have been excited to get NASCAR tickets, though, even though it's a road course, which might detract from the full Bubba effect of typical NASCAR  (Trivia question: Besides Infineon Raceway, what is the only other road course on the NASCAR circuit?)

I've always been vaguely interested in seeing a live NASCAR race.  I watched the last part of the Dayton 500 last night, I turned on the TV after seeing the story online about the huge explosion that had just happened when a driver plowed into a maintenance truck laden with jet fuel (no one was seriously hurt.)  Also, I was a little bored and don't have cable. :)   (In other words, I probably would not have watched it had it been Sunday when the race was supposed to have been completed.)

It was a pretty fun time. The drivers had to wait while they patched the track after the fire, and the Fox coverage crew did interviews to fill in the downtime with the various driver and crew dudes (I didn't see Danica Patrick interviewed, but the camera showed her heading off to make a personal "ladies" pit stop.  :)

The drivers were pretty interesting for the most part, and gol-durnit they all seem so young.   Also, because the race had seen so many unusual events -- multiple rain delays, the big crash and fire, the urgent re-paving job on the scarred track -- everyone was a little excited and it wasn't always the usual "yeah, we have to race hard, we have a good car, yadda" blather in the interviews.  (Well, I suppose it was mostly the usual stuff.....) But one driver, Brad Keselowski, mentioned his twitter account and later they said he picked up 50k twitter followers in an hour.

here's his twitter acct >> http://twitter.com/keselowski

and an image he tweeted:

So anyway, it was pretty fun...

Great NASCAR report, TC!

Anyway, here's today's Connected:

**Tuesday (February 28): tonight's connection is DOORS & WINDOWS
Suggest your favorite song about a door or window; you could win tickets for Counting Crows at the Fox in Oakland on Monday, April 16th PLUS tickets for the NASCAR Spring Series at Infineion Raceway.

I didn't think Dred would dig what initially came to mind (Windows by the Screaming Trees and Keep on Knocking by Death), so I had my alter ego pick something more likely to get noticed.

Recent KFOG Connected Playlists
