speaking of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore: Bedazzled is great, but I haven't seen it available on DVD anywhere.

Have you heard their old comedy albums? Brilliant stuff.

I have not, but I'm sure it is good.  prob on the 'net somewheres...

I'll be looking on YT -- the albums are apparently out-of-print, can't find 'em on Amazon.

well, I enjoyed this set overall.  (Tom Petty notwithstanding).

I appreciate the expansive sounds she chose to start, and despite the well-worn Echo and Pet Shop Boys and U2, sounded good to me.  Maybe I'm just desperate.

Agreed.  Modern rock always makes for a decent 80s set, even if they're tried and true crowd pleasers.

indeed... compared to what The Drive and the Sound do in late-'80s sets, this coulda been much worse.

ETA: TANC, The Sound *did* do '87 today. muuuuuch worse.

no complaints yet. Certainly some big sweeping sounds in the first three four songs.  Lips Like Sugar is the one song everyone knows from Echo, oh well.

Ditto...even though KFOG has been spinning Lips Like Sugar a lot lately, it's still hard to be disappointed when hearing it.

BOS Pet Shop Boys...VHM's to P. Furs, E/Bunnymen, Icehouse (was wondering when we'd hear them again) INXS, & The Alarm.  Not full of rarities but still a pretty epic set imo.

Have to WOS Tom Petty though.  Even though his 1987 album is probably the only one that has songs by him like...that song isn't one of them.  Runaway Trains or The Damage You've Done are better.

Missed hearing it, but that set definitely looks like what I remember hearing in 1987. Unfortunately the only song that has me saying "Wow, I haven't heard that in YEARS" is the Stranglers. The rest of the set: varying degrees of "meh."
Let's get right to it.

I caught the beginning of the replay while driving down W San Carlos St. (in San Jose).  If you are not familiar with this area, it's full of huge tacky neon signs: (here are a few courtesy of http://www.satanslaundromat.com/sl/archives/000464.html)

all of which were brightly lit.  So I'm seeing these out my window, and then on the radio there's the Psychedelic Furs followed by Icehouse, The Alarm, Echo/Bunnymen...between the neon lights & epic sounds, I felt like I had really gone back in time 24 years. :)

TANC: I was introduced yesterday to the Lauder Brothers, those of "Satan Is Real" fame.

I'd also suggest those pictures are more reminiscent of 1967 than 1987, but I get your point. Thanks for sharing!
