I saw the Police that summer and Simple Minds were the opening act, except in St. Louis where local radio guys had somehow managed to switch Joan Jett for Messrs Kerr, et al.  I was deeply dissappointed, but most of my fellow St. Louisans had still never heard of Simple Minds.

Alas.

(True mondegreen confession: When this first came out, I thought Jim Kerr was singing about 4 guys named Eddie. "Eddie 1, Eddie 2, Eddie 3, Eddie 4." I figured it out eventually, but not until I'd embarrassed myself once or twice.)

I will never hear it the same again!

I had a mondegreen come back tome this mornign when "KIng of Pain" played.  I used to alway think they sang "bless my soul again" instead of "that's my soul up there".
