Wow, such a huge BOS from me, a song I had asked Dave to play several times in a Strictly Instrumental set, and then he didn't even do one for the last 2+ years of his tenure.

In the King Biscuit live version Keith goes even faster than on the album version.

"Lion Sleeps Tonight" is a huge zeitgeist song for me.  Big BOS.

And I'll give another to Don McLean, I actually haven't heard this in a really long time.

Do y'all know what the reference to The Levee being dry is about?

maybe he wanted to go swimming?  but a levee is a wall of earth, right?  not the actual spatial area where you actually swim..   weird.

I just found this awesome (older) headline

Levee Goes Dry as "American Pie" Tavern Loses Liquor License

*crickets*

did everybody get bored?

This was a good set for the stream to crap out on me -- seems AL has to have one day a week where she hits overplayed chart hits real hard.

best I can say is that the 5-D tune is a bustout -- in fact amazingly Dave NEVER played them, at least not in the years covered by the shraytabase.

Now the question is, why did 3 different sources of the stream not work for me (the WMP link here, the player on the KFOG homepage and the older Cumulus player that Giter Dunn posted a link to)? If Kaiser has blocked the KFOG stream I will be mighty pissed.

ETA: ah, I see we got an ELP bustout too. Kudos on that but overall... sheesh.

ELP RULES!!!!
I'll second that emotion.   Saw them at Concord Pavilion about 20 years ago.

that was the Aaron Copeland composition?

Oh my heavens, All Down The Line shows up and takes away ALL the BOSes, bitches!

I think I had the Ram Jam, and one of my brothers had the Deuces Wild.

I'll retract my earlier BOSes, and just stick to one for ELP & one more for the Stones.

"All Down the Line" was a request for the 33 1/3 slot that Annalisa played last week or the week before.

there you go.   That was obvious... which is why it was only worth $200.

I had to google 'Kathie Lee Gifford's Today Show' to get Sunday's answer.  I suppose I'm grateful I didn't know that one off the top of my head!  :)

Normally I'd be thoroughly bummed about missing a '72 set, but based on what I can put together from your recap most of these were songs I've heard plenty already. I'd have likely BOS'd the ELP tune and Marilyn McCoo, although our local oldie station plays that one occasionally.

One thing: was the TOTHK the Raspberries or Badfinger? I thought "Dixie dear" was mentioned in Baby Blue. And since no one mentioned the song by name....   ???
