BOS, the Talking Heads "Lifetime Piling Up".  Their last song, released on the Sand In The Vaseline 2-disc compilation.

Must have been some bad blood.  I met Tina and Jerry during my guitar biz days, and both seemed real nice.  Perhaps David is a bit hard to work with?

Just finished reading a THeads bio called This Must Be The Place, and safe to say, yes. Tina has little patience for Mr. Byrne and his ego. Chris seems to be the peacemaker.

Jerry's living in the area these days (since garageband.com's heyday). I see him out around town about 2-3 times a year.
Let's get right to it.

yeah, this sounds like a '92 set to me. nothing obscure, but it wasn't such a bad year for music. at least we still had variety on the radio. vhm to "something to breathe."

Ha ha!

I guess Rod must know this, probably Beej & Davefish, maybe Urth.

It's Lazarus Long, the fictional millenialist created by Robert Heinlein.

The guy who got the brain transplant from his hot young babelicious secretary? I read that one in high school.  Someone should option THAT for a movie.

Nope, that's I Will Fear No Evil, and Johann Sebastian Bach Smith.  Other than Stranger in A Strange Land and Glory Road, it's the Heinlein I remember best.

isn't that what happened to jimmy spader in "the secretary?"

If this were A-Z week, "Come As You Are" would be preceeded by James Brown's "Cold Sweat, Parts I & II".  One of the great segues in KFOG history & they do it every year.

(of course I'm biased, because when I said so to Annalisa 3-4 years ago she taped it & I wound up in the promo for the rest of the week.)

I'm afraid I've rapidly lost interest in this set.  Dave once again forgets that black people were making music in the '90s.

can I get an AMEN!

Sir Mix-a-Lot, TLC, BoyzIIMen, Prince, Luther & Janet's duet (Dave has not played the man since he died -- shameful!).

Has he ever played C&E's "Would I Lie to You"?

I'm flattered you think I might have been able to place that. I have read a number of Heinlein's books but not for a good while. Stranger in a Strange Land and Time Enough for Love were both great, although the latter could have been edited down by a hundred or so pages and not lost much. The Moon is A Harsh Mistress I really dug too.
Let's get right to it.

WOS to "Dizz Knee Land."  No more than a gimmick to begin with, albeit a memorable one, and it's worn thin, all too thin.

Next time you see Jerry, tell him that your friend Mark sez "Man With A Gun" is one of his all-time favorite songs.

OOooohhh.  BOS#2, "Diz Knee Land"

I just flipped off President George...

Anyone who sings about pissing off the prez gets a VHM from me. I liked their Xmas record too.

I think "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is cute, but really, one of the best guitarists of all time?

Do people really say that?  Nice tone, great overall sound, but awfully basic.

Au contraire, this is social commentary that is even more valid today than 13 years ago.  And I think the hook stands up well enough, too.

Very good point -- "Best Things in Life Are Free" would have been perfect!  Dave has a general aversion to Miss Janet that I find inconceivable.  And if he's gone for Charles & Eddie at all, it hasn't been in recent years.
