4 April 2011: it's... 1984
« on: April 03, 2011, 07:09:54 PM »
You knew AL was gonna do a Gerry Ferraro set sooner than later.

Someone requested Echo's "Killing Moon" (yay!) but also asked for "When Doves Cry"... which AL played last time, in that very Moreyesque set that made a few of us grumpy.

Meanwhile someone else wants the dreaded "Oh Sherrie"...

I chose five top 40 hits that to my knowledge have never appeared on 10@10.

"Lights Out" is a possibility, given AL's love of all things Bostonian.

And yes, we have requests for Yes. And "Sister Christian".

Today being April 4, AL will probably play U2's "MLK" or "Pride" from '84's The Unforgettable Fire:

Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride"

Gosh, that would sound really good today. "Ooooozone!!" "Ooooozone!!" That's what I used to think he was singing.

Not sure I've heard "Head Over Heels" since 1984.

BOS Go-Gos, "Head Over Heels".  Sly sexual comment optional.

It's Go-Gos by numbers, but it's delightful and perky.  What I need on a Monday.  BOS.

Last summer TIME.com ran a listicle of summer songs, and in the entry for "Cruel Summer," referred to Bananarama as a one-hit wonder.  I nearly blew a gasket.  Thankfully they rewrote it at my insistence.

at least they didn't call them "those 3 talentless slags" as someone (Julie Burchill?) writing for The Face did at the time..

VHM relatively rare Billy Idol.

That's great (the re-write)!

Woohoo for Billy Idol!
