6 Jan 2011: it's... 1993!
« on: January 05, 2011, 06:35:22 PM »
It's 1993, y'all.  Get yer Gen X on...

I requested Chemical World (Blur) and Divine Hammer (Breeders).  I was going to request Showgirl by The Auteurs, but realized it was released in '92.  Eh, I'll save it for later.

**Someone request something post haste!  The FBers are making hideous suggestions (Sting, The Proclaimers, Spin Doctors, etc.).

I do find it hysterical that the same person who always requests "Hey Jude" wants to hear "Dazzy Duks" by Duice.

My '93 wishlist is pretty small, and I was pleased to see other requests for two that I planned to ask for: Tina Turner's "I Don't Wanna Fight" and Prince's "7". So I happily plus-1'd both.

BOS1 to Cowboy Junkies' "Anniversary Song," which I used to love but haven't heard in years.

It's certainly better than the narcoleptic "Sweet Jane". VHM LemonGin BlossomHeads (sorry I have trouble telling the 2 apart)

WOS Proclaimers, which I once loved but which is now the most unnecessary. (plus it gets played in 2 years) It's all Mary Stuart Masterson's fault.

Belly's "Hey Gepetto" is surely an ATBB.  BOSFRA.

Can't hear this Flaming Lips song without thinking of BH90210.

and from Belly to (petroleum) jelly:  WOS Flaming Lips "Vaseline", one of the worst songs I have ever heard in my 55 years on this planet.

I was going to request Flaming Lips, but when I got to Facebook I saw that some wise soul already did, and once AL saw it she would know to play it. She wouldn't need my paltry two cents to convince her.  She just knew.

Pedantic note: title is "She Don't Use Jelly."

So... what you're saying is.. you would prefer that she actually DID use jelly?  ponderous, man... ponderous.

WOS3 4 Non-Talents.  In other words, this is becoming an all-too- typical '90s set.

Least Necessary of Set is a tie between this and the havering (?) Proclaimers.
