LNG/KPOO/KCDX etcetcetc for the week of 9/6/10

Judge takes a rare Monday off but his fill-in is jammin' -- Janet Jackson's forgotten "Come Give Your Love to Me" from '83, very much in the same vein as brother Jermaine's Devo collab ("Let Me Tickle Your Fancy") from the year before.  And lawdy, a personal fave from Shalamar, "Dead Giveaway".

JJ previews Casey's Sept '73 chart with the fab "Stoned Outta My Mind".  I never tire of this one.

and at 8:00, JJ began an entire hour of R&B chart hits from Sept 7th 1960.

Radio de Sebb plays Al Green's fab Otis Redding-ish cover of "I Want To Hold Your Hand", in which he m'greens "I can't hide" as "I get high".

and ooo! The Valentine Bros orig of "Money$ Too Tight to Mention", later covered by Simply Red.  Wonder if some country band will cover it and change "Reaganomics" to "Obamanomics". paging Toby Keith...

Radio de Sebb rescues me from the '90s with "The Revolution Will Not be Televised".

OMGWTF-of-the-Month: Rosey Grier doing an RFK-tribute song called "People Make The World" -- turns out it was written by Bobby Womack! -- and  it's quite lovely. Not found on You Tube, unfortunately.

nice to see the Sylvers' "Hot Line" get some love from Barry Scott's listeners -- it comes in at #29. Baby wooo!

I still don't know what a "starshine shimmy-shuffle smile" is, but it's always nice to hear "Little Willy".
