3 Sept 2010: a "classic" Mystery Year set (1993)
« on: September 03, 2010, 09:55:43 AM »
the majority of AL's Mystery Years have been '90s; if that's the case, I'm going back over to Radio de Sebb.

Hi gang!  Feels like it's been longer since I was here for a daytime set.  Wow, has this been a stressful week.  TGIF.

Blecch, I bailed on Song 2's extended opening note: "It could KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP you up for hours."  I always hated that song, even though it clearly had gay-pride significance for Dave M.

I'm at Radio de Sebb if you'd care to join me.

 yes, not my favorite either.

James' Laid is nice. Eno produced it, btw.   is the album worth getting?   there was a tranny troubadour that played Johnny Foleys on occasion -- maybe 10 years ago? -- who used to do this song.  fantastic!

But here's Duran Duran's Ordinary World which gets the BOS from me.

Tranny troubador?  You mean there's a whole genre of them?

heh, maybe??

She was pretty striking, not necessarily a 'beautiful' female presence, but good stage presence and fine song selection, and the vocal octave jumps in Laid were very fitting for the whole concept.

more kudos to U3 and Tasmin Archer and Smashing Pun'kins

and I have to say I really like that SF Zoo commercial KFOG airs on the stream, where the little kid asks Pepper the Penguin to say a few words..?  Totally cute, the penguin and the kid.
