The Sound, week of 8/30/10
« on: August 30, 2010, 11:56:40 AM »
Mon 8/30/10: 1970!

After Midnight - Eric Clapton
Ramble Tamble - CCR
Lay Down (Candles in the Rain) - Melanie
Mississippi Queen - Mountain
Roadhouse Blues - Doors
Midnight Rider - Allman Brothers
Wild World - Cat Stevens
Black Magic Woman - Santana
Uncle John's Band - Grateful Dead
Joy to the World - Three Dog Night

Melanie's popular lately. uber-BOS to a CCR rarity (an ATBB, actually). And if 3DN's "Joy To The World" was a late-1970 release, it's news to me; certainly everyone associates it with '71. Ditto "Wild World".

Tue 8/31/10: 1981

if you'd like an alternative to AL's recent rerun, Larry's doing '81 Moreytrinas (ELO, TP & the Goat, The Who).

Wed 9/1/10: 1974

Can't Get Enough - Bad Company
Saturday Night - Bay City Rollers
Whatever Gets You Through the Night - John Lennon
Time Waits for No One - Rolling Stones

Sailing Shoes/Sneakin' Medley - Robert Palmer
Bungle in the Jungle - Jethro Tull
Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me - Elton John
Roll On Down the Highway - BTO

Ooops, sorry Larry -- wrong year on the BC Rollers (late '75/early '76). Nice to see someone else hip to the Robert Palmer "medley". How much you wannna bet The Sound plays "Sweet Home Ala-bummer" at least as often as KFOG does in regular rotation?

Fri 9/3/10: Labor Day Weekend

presumably they're taking Monday off?

Workin' for a Living - Huey Lewis
A Hard Day's Night - Beatles
Working in the Coal Mine - Devo
Blue Collar Man - Styx
Bang the Drum - Todd Rundgren
Taking Care of Business - BTO
Take This Job and Shove It - Johnny Paycheck
Finest Worksong - REM
Working Man - Rush
Maggie's Farm - Bob Dylan

Pretty nice assortment, actually.  Will have to listen tonite.

ETA: enjoying this but -- for shame! -- wrong version of "Take This Job..."; clearly a re-recording and not the orig that Dave played for so many years. Shove it, indeed. And of course I can think of a dozen work-themed songs I'd prefer to hearing Rush.
