BOS for the B52's!  I don't know this song.

They were great at the Mountain Winery with Blondie a few weeks ago, opening with "Wig"!

ETA: I guess I have heard "Strobe Light" before.

OMFG!!! Blotto!! uber-BOS5 "I Wanna Be a Lifeguard", one I requested for the Summer Set.

BTW, "Strobe Light" made its 2nd appearance in the AL era, tho' Dave never played it.

What the hell is this?  "I Wanna Be a Lifeguard"?  Sounds like there's a little "Hand of Todd" in this one too.

nope. cheezy little band from upstate NY. This was huge on the East Coast but most Californians have never heard of it.

I remember this one (I'm from Upstate NY).  I actually was a lifeguard at some neighborhood pools.  I never got around to doing it, but I thought I Wanna Be A Lifeguard, Peter Gabriel's I Go Swimming" and maybe some Beach Boys song would have made a nice "lunch box" request to our local Classic Rock station.  "Hey, free pizza courtesy of Sal's Pizza and Subs on Culver Road going out to the Penbrooke Apartments pool staff ... Rock on!"

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  WOS2 Diesel. Sheesh, AL!

But at least the past couple of nights actually WERE "hot summer nights in Sausalito" -- how rare is that?  (a lot rare than hearing this song on 10 at 10 as we all know...)

Why is this in 1980? This song was released in 1981.

BOS4 Judas effin' PRIEST!  Dude, that guy in the leather codpiece is gay?? Gee, who'd'a guessed?

Rob Halford joked when he came out of the closet saying look what he was wearing. Of course, he's gay. I love how the vast majority of Priest fans just yawned when he came out. They didn't care.

He also said that when he came out he thought he would be "the Madonna of Metal", but most disco-addled gay men had no idea who he or his band were. He was rather disappointed.

BOS2 Mean Joe & the Kid.  Awwwww...

A missed opportunity to pair this with Michael Henderson's "Wide Receiver," which name-checks this ad: "Thanks, Mean Joe!"
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Back in the early '00s, when I was staying with a friend in what later became my first NYC apartment, I noticed on his bookshelf a promo copy of a children's illustrated book based on "Wig": it showed wildly adorned women and men dancing and having fun in accompaniment to the lyrics.  (Right down to the joke about Fred's hairpiece: "he didn't want to pay.")
