25 June 2010: the Pride Set
« on: June 23, 2010, 01:21:46 PM »
it's official -- there's a blurb on the KFOG websiite promoting it.  I have a number of "suggestions" for AL.

and here's last year's set for easy reference:

Quote
1.  Sylvester - You Make Me Feel Mighty Real
(Movie:  Milk)
   2.  Carl Bean - I Was Born This Way
(TV:  Queer As Folk)
   3.  Melissa Etheridge - Yes, I Am
(TV:  Queer As Folk)
   4.  Timbuk 3 - Legalize Our Love
(TV:  Seinfeld)
   5.  Pansy Division - That's So Gay!
(News:  Rob Halford comes out)
   6.  Judas Priest - Hell Bent For Leather
(Movie:  Opposite of Sex)
   7.  Ani DiFranco - In or Out
(Movie:  Transamerica)
   8.  Polyphonic Spree - Wig in a Box
(News:  UPI on the street)
   9.  The Smiths - How Soon is Now?
 10.  Blur - Girls & Boys

BONUS: Pet Shop Boys - Go West

I'm gonna predict she plays Scissor Sisters' "Take Your Mama."

And I'd like Tom Robinson's "Glad to Be Gay" to return to the set.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

went to FB to request Carl Bean's "I Was Born This Way" and saw that she posted the clip as (I'm assuming) a pre-emptive "extra".  I suggested

Billy Bragg, "Sexuality"
Gloria Gaynor "I Am What I Am"
Pete Shelley, "Homosapien"
Bronski Beat, "Smalltown Boy"

I went to bar mitzvah once, doesn't make me Jewish.
Going to the Pride festivites doesn't make me gay!
Mighty real baby!!!!!!

Yes -- terrific, not just for his story but as a portrait of SF in that period.

ooo! we're getting Carl Bean anyway! BOS3 -- this really is a lost gem.  And I'll say again that I'm amazed Dave never played it
