16 June 2010: it's... 1997
« on: June 16, 2010, 08:00:34 AM »
No clues as of 9pm last nite.  I'm thinking today and tomorrow will be some combination of '90s and '70s and then Friday another "Dads'N'Grads" set.  And a Summer set on Monday?

well, it's the best '90s year -- 1997.  (or it CAN be, if we're lucky).  But WOS "Please Don't Tell Her I Love Her", a snoozy TOTHK from Big Bore Todd and the Monsters.

It's a catchy tune, but the lyrics suck.

What was that dull clip about producing the Oscars?

ETA: I see, Wag the Dog.

yes, I don't dig it at all....

I'll give a BOS to Fiona Apple, though this isn't really one of her best.

I'm wondering if AL is afraid to ask for requests in '90s sets because she doesn't want to stray too far from the KFOG playlists of the time (last week's 1990 set was a "Mystery Year" so no Foghead suggestions for that one either).  "MMMMBop" or White Town's "Your Woman" would really make my morning.

it was the last movie to play at the late, great Alhambra theater on upper Polk St., before it closed and became a gym. So it's a fond memory for me, if nothing else.

Right, OMC.  It's always good to here New Zealand represented on 10at10.  I just read that the singer of this song (Pauly Fuemana) died in January of this year after a long illness.  He was only 40.
