BOS2 Van the Man, comin' a-runnin'.   Saw him in Central Park that summer -- the Byrds opened for him.
How was he?  He sucked at the Masonic years ago.  Faced the band most of the time.

Actually it started to rain about 4 songs in and we ran for the subway.

"This Whole World" from the Beach Boys:

Totally NTM.  Is this another one sung by errr, whatshisname, somebody Blondie?

Blondie Chaplin?  Hmm, dunno.  Good question.  I would've guessed Carl.
Yeah, that's who I meant.  But you are right.  It's Carl.  Full marks!

"New Speedway Boogie" is one of the few songs by the Dead literally written about something in particular, Altamont.

Saw him open for the Stones at Oakland a couple years ago. He was good, faced the crowd, did many hits, played a mean sax!

Pretty much BOS's all the way around, but especially Steve Miller.  Was listening to his 'early years' greatest hits while doing yardwork on Sat.

"New Speedway Boogie" is one of the few songs by the Dead literally written about something in particular, Altamont.

In the Maysles Bros' Gimme Shelter movie, you see the Dead arrive at the Speedway, then they get work of the security shenanigans and hear about Marty Balin getting clocked in the face, and they do an about face.   Smart career move.

another BOS to Steve Miller
